Mezzanine

Concept redesign. While I was on staff, East Coast Christian Center asked me to brand The Mezzanine, its young adult ministry. Years later I revisited the brief and built the identity out further on my own. This is that later version, not the one ECCC received.

Style, Welcome, Passion.

Designing the brand for the Mezzanine presented an exciting challenge—capturing the clean, high-end aesthetic inspired by Glossier while keeping the tone warm, welcoming, and full of heart. They admired Glossier’s simplicity, elegance, and the confident touch of its minimal logo, but wanted their deep passion for faith and community to shine through. The goal was a design that felt modern and stylish yet openly inviting. Through refined typography, open layouts, and soft, confident visuals, the final identity balanced sophistication with sincerity—reflecting both the Mezzanine’s vibrant spirit and its genuine desire to welcome everyone in.

Clean, Elegant, Vibrant.

I met the design challenge by drawing directly from Glossier’s brand identity, incorporating its sense of simplicity and elegance while adapting it for a faith-driven community. At the requester’s suggestion, the logo included a period—mirroring Glossier’s confident minimalism but giving it new meaning: steady faith and conviction. The color palette was light and friendly without feeling childish, creating an open, approachable tone. To reflect the Mezzanine’s passion, I introduced one vibrant accent color used sparingly for emphasis in key moments. The emotional core of the brand came through photography—powerful imagery of people in genuine, passionate worship and prayer, grounding the clean design in heartfelt authenticity.
